The following policy describes the types of information that KeyCanada Real Estate Listings Inc.(“KeyCanada”) collects and how that information is used.
What Is Personal Information?
Personal information is information about an identifiable individual. This includes information about your product and service subscriptions and usage.
Information That We Collect
We may collect information about you during the registration process, when communicating or transacting business with you, through the use of files called “cookies”, and when providing you with service. We also collect information about you from third parties that have the right to disclose such information to us.
How We Use Your Information
We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for the following purposes, or others identified to you at the time of collection: To establish responsible relations with you and provide you with ongoing quality service; To understand your needs and preferences; To contact you for administrative purposes; To develop, enhance, market, or provide products and services; and To meet legal and regulatory requirements; You can control whether you receive promotional emails from us by following the instructions at the end of each email we send. You may also opt-out by sending an email to privacy@keycanada.ca.
Disclosure to Third Parties
While our general policy is not to provide personal information to any party outside of KeyCanada, there are certain limited circumstances under which it is necessary for us to do so. When we do provide personal information to third parties, we provide only that information that is required under the particular circumstances. That information is used only for the purpose stipulated and is subject to strict terms of confidentiality. Employees of the companies to whom we may provide information must adhere to our privacy standards. These third parties may include: An agent acting on behalf of KeyCanada; Another communications service provider; We may also provide personal information to law enforcement agencies and emergency services in emergency situations or where required by statute or court order.
Security
We use commercially reasonable security measures to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. However, we cannot guarantee the protection of information against interception, misappropriation, misuse, or alteration or that your information may be not be disclosed or accessed by accidental circumstances or by the unauthorized acts of others. You should be aware that we have no control over the security of other sites on the internet that you might visit, interact with, or from which you buy products or services.
Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information
KeyCanada has adopted the following ten principles from the Canadian Standards Association's Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information:
Accountability
KeyCanada accepts responsibility for the personal information under its control and has designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for the company's compliance with these ten principles.
Identifying Purposes
Before collecting personal information, KeyCanada identifies the purposes for which the personal information is being collected.
Consent
KeyCanada does not collect personal information without your knowledge and consent, except where otherwise required or permitted by law as, for example, where the information is required for legal, medical or security reasons.
Limiting Collection
KeyCanada limits its collection of personal information to that which is necessary for the purposes that it identifies.
Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention
KeyCanada does not use or disclose personal information other than for the purposes for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information is only retained for as long as is necessary for the fulfilment of those purposes.
Accuracy
Personal information shall be as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used .
Safeguards
Personal information shall be protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
Openness
KeyCanada makes specific information about its policies and practices, relating to the management of personal information, readily available to its users.
Individual Access
Upon request, KeyCanada will inform an individual of the existence, use, and disclosure of his or her personal information and provide access to that information. Individuals are permitted to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.
